Privacy Statement Policy
University of California UC Nature
The University of California is committed to protecting the privacy and accuracy of your personally identifiable information to the extent possible, subject to provisions of state and federal law. Other than as required by laws that guarantee public access to certain types of information, or in response to subpoenas or other legal instruments that authorize disclosure, personally identifiable information is not disclosed without your consent.
Information Collection and Use
Categories of personally identifiable information collected by the Reserve Application Management System (RAMS) include: name, address, phone, and email information. RAMS will never ask for or store personally identifiable numbers (such as Social Security numbers or student ID numbers) and will never ask for or store any credit card information. The personally identifiable information requested by us is used by staff to manage and communicate with our RAMS applicants. Fields marked with an “*” are required because this information is needed to access and determine the approval status of any RAMS application. Article IX, Section 9 of the California Constitution grants authority to the University of California to maintain this information.
In order to keep you informed about activities such as campus programs, symposia, and special events, we may use personal information collected from the RAMS website to communicate with online enrollees in the future. Such email notifications will be sent in accordance with University of California and campus policies implementing anti-spam laws (http://www.ucop.edu/irc/policy/antispam.pdf [PDF]).
Additionally, the web server hosting RAMS collects, at least temporarily, information such as the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computer being used, web pages requested, referring web page, browser used, and date and time. This information may be used for system administration, security, troubleshooting, and improving the performance and usability of RAMS.
RAMS also uses a self-hosted instance of Matomo to collect website usage analytics. Matomo helps us understand how visitors use RAMS, such as which pages are visited and how visitors navigate the site. IP addresses collected for analytics are anonymized. RAMS does not provide Matomo with a RAMS user identifier, and Matomo analytics data is maintained on a self-hosted system rather than being provided to an external analytics service.
If you consent, Matomo uses a visitor identification cookie that may persist for up to 13 months and a session cookie that expires after approximately 30 minutes. These cookies allow us to distinguish visits and understand use of RAMS across visits. RAMS does not use Matomo analytics for advertising.
Cookies and Analytics
RAMS uses cookies that are necessary for the operation of the service and, with your consent, optional analytics cookies.
RAMS uses Matomo analytics to help us understand how the service is used and to improve its functionality, performance, and user experience. Matomo analytics cookies are used only if you consent to analytics cookies through our cookie consent controls.
Disclosure of Collected Information
UC Nature will not disclose or share personally identifiable information without your consent, except in certain explicit circumstances in which disclosure may be required by law. Your personally identifiable information will not be distributed or sold to third-party organizations.
Alternative Choice
Individuals who wish to use methods other than online enrollment may submit requests by email or U.S. mail addressed to the specific reserve they are applying to use.
Updating Personal Information
Questions regarding your options to review, modify, or delete previously provided personal information should be directed through the RAMS interface.
