Course Fee

In addition to standard tuition and campus fees, students participating in the California Ecology and Conservation course will pay an additional $4,480 fee. The course fee covers the cost of all room and board, travel during the course, equipment expenses, and administration costs. Students will not spend additional money on food or lodging during the course.

Some partial need-based scholarship opportunities are available. Students apply to the scholarship as part of the main course application.

UC tuition and Student Services fee are standardized by Academic Year, and are available here: https://www.ucop.edu/operating-budget/fees-and-enrollments/index.html

UC Campus-based Financial Aid

Once enrolled, the UC Education Abroad Program (UC EAP) contacts your UC campus financial aid office to adjust your award letter. UC EAP provides an estimated budget that includes the $4,480 course fee and potential out-of-pocket expenses. Your campus financial aid office adjust your financial aid package to reflect the cost of the program.

Qualifying students can access their campus-based financial aid and scholarships to cover the cost to participate. Speak to your campus financial aid office to learn how your financial aid package will change during the academic quarter you participate in the program.

Additional expenses

Students will need to travel to San Jose, California, for the start of the course. The course instructors will meet students arriving at San Jose International Airport (SJC) and drop them off at the end of the course.

Students are responsible for acquiring the personal gear listed in the example packing list (see Appendix C in the information packet).

Free gear loans for tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, puffy jackets, etc., are available. To reserve a gear loan, contact instructors at [email protected].
